J'adore Dior

I had just about forgotten about this darn thing! I realized the other day that I had totally forgotten about my 31 Day Challenge! Here's Day 30, inspired by a tutorial.

The tutorial is from the lovely Sammy at The Nailasaurus and can be found here. These were based off a dress from Dior.

I used:
Sally Hansen Bold Buff
NYC Plaza Plumberry

I am currently in the midsts of making some changes to the blog, trying to make it a little bit more aesthetic :). *Puts hard hat on* Let's get to work!

Non Timebo Mala

Ok so I couldn't just show up after being MIA for so long and just leave you with plain green nails, that would be pretty crappy of me. Day 30 (I think?) of this challenge is inspired by the supernatural, and so what better to do then use the show I got sucked into, Supernatural.

They have this gun that can basically kill anything (deamons, vampires, phoenixes, windegos, ect.), but it was only made with thirteen bullets and after that it's just another plain ole gun. I really like the design on it, all old-fashiony. So I recreated a snippet of the design for my nails.

This is what the gun looks like.

Sally Hansen Gone Grey

The post title is from an engraving on the barrel, non timebo male. It means, "I fear no evil," in Latin. I'm seriously considering this for a tattoo. In regards to the show Supernatural, I do not recommend it if you value your social life and sleep, if you don't regard those two things as important, knock yourself out and enjoy Jensen's face.

Lazy Doesn't Even Begin to Cover It...

Ok long story short I haven't been blogging because I got caught up into a new show and Netflix has this handy little "watch the next one right this second" feature and before you know it it's midnight and I haven't eaten anything or done anything else for that matter. So yesterday I was like, "Haleigh, get your butt up and contribute to your blog." So I did, but this seriously just. I don't even. Yeah. I didn't even clean up my cuticles. 'Cause Sam and Dean were like watch us and I was like, "Yes. Yes of course." Oh and yeah this is day something (flag day) of the 31DC.

Oh and I'm now posting this today BECAUSE ALL I DID WAS ONE COLOR OF POLISH BUT SOMEHOW I NEVER GOT UP TO MAKE A POST.

This sums up like the past two weeks -__-. Can this post be over now? Yeah I think that's all I have to say. Oh yeah the color is Revlon Posh.

Henri Matisse- La Gerbe

For day 27 the challenge calls for nails inspired by a piece of artwork. For an art student this was very hard, I've seen at least a thousand pieces that could work in the past three years. I decided to go with one that I had seen in person at the LACMA, Henri Matisse's La Gerbe.

It was made in 1953 and is ceramic and ceramic imbedded in plaster. This thing is huge, it weighs 2,000 lbs. You can check out more pictures of it, history, and information of the piece here.

Connection to Marilyn

Today is inspired by a pattern, and I recently just got the perfect dress for it.

I got this dress at a small shop called Artifact in the Market at Tivoli Village. Its such an AMAZING shop, cute little knick knacks and lots of artwork. My faveorite part though is that the owner, Molly, has this wall she does up every month with a different lady. The wall will have vintage clothes and accessories similar to the ones the lady wore. She's done Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Coco Chanel (I missed that one :( ), and I happened by when Marilyn was up. Fell in love with the dress you see me in up above, and it fit me like a glove. This is the similar dress Marilyn wore:

She wore this for her role as Ellen Arden in Something's Gotta Give
This is just a happy day for me all around, because I adore Miss Norma Jean as well ^-^.

I don't like how cruddy this stamping job was. I've lost my scraper and the gift cards I was trying to use just wouldn't do the trick :(. Hopefully I'll find it soon, it has to be somewhere.

All Hail McQueen

I've been so excited for this challenge, because I love fashion so much ^-^. I decided to do a mani based on Alexander McQueen's spring/summer 2008 collection.

(the dress on the left)

I thought this dress was really fun and enjoyed re-creating it. I hope I served McQueen's dress well.

Doritos, Burritos, Flamingos.

Unless you've read The Kane Chronicles that probably made absolutely no sense to you whatsoever. They have a monkey named Khufu that only eats things ending with an O. So you might've guessed now my nails are based on The Kane Chronicles today.

The Kane Chronicles is written by Rick Riordan and is about a bunch of teenagers who channel the powers of the Egyptian gods. After reading Percy Jackson I knew this series would be good too and I was not disappointed. I used an ankh because, well, it's Egyptian. More specifically it's their symbol for life.

"I don't do fashion, I AM Fashion."

Great words spoken by none other than Coco Chanel, my absolute favorite person ever. Today's nails are FINEALY movie inspired nails, I was really dragging my feet with this one because I just felt so meh to all the ideas I came up with. After really horribly executing one idea I decided to use my inspired by fashion design instead.

Oh and the credit for this mani's design goes to Supa Nails, I loved her Coco nails I just had to do them myself ^-^. Granted I did make a few changes, the interlocking Cs were giving me a headache :/

And don't worry there is a movie involved, also one of my top favorites. It's called Coco Avant Chanel, and is pretty much a biography about Gabrielle Chanel before the brand. If you want to watch it (and I do highly suggest it) make sure it has subtitles, unless you speak French.

Let's Take a Polaroid Picture

Hey chickas! Let's bring some song-inspired nail art to your frostbitten fingertips shall we?

Today's mani was inspired by Skyler Stonestreet's song Polaroid Picture. Its a fun bubbly song that makes me smile, it actually is one of Polaroids official songs I believe. I painted a camera on my accent nail, and little Polaroid frames on the rest. My dad used to have a Polaroid, he would take pictures of me doing ballet with it. I wish it hadn't gotten stolen :\.

Viva Las Vegas

Almost done with this challenge, we're on the third section now! Day 21 is "inspired by a color", and I'm sure it could be interpreted many ways, but I like the way some other bloggers have done it and been inspired by a nail polish name. So I chose Nailtique's Vegas, cause I'm a Vegas Girl of course. ^-^

What is Vegas best known for? Gambling! The whole strip is just rows and rows of casinos waiting to gobble up tourist's money. I have here the best known ways of money spending, cards, roulette, slot machine, poker chips, and dice.

I've Lost My Marbles

So I cheated with this post too >.< Instead of actually doing water marbling I just did a stamp, but you'll see why tomorrow because I really just wanted to get to inspired by a song nails.

I also know I've been slacking on the posts these past couple days, I was über ridiculously busy. I'll make up for it with tomorrow's post, promise!

Galaxy Loophole

Today's challenge theme in galaxies, but nobody necessarily said I HAD to do the stuff up in the sky. So I found a loophole, the Samsung Galaxy phone. You can call me a cheater, but I prefer to think of it as strategic planning.

I copied all of the widgets at the bottom of the phone, the telephone, contacts, messaging, and internet. I like how this turned out, I think i'm getting better at free-handing stuff.

Moon Flower

Have you ever seen moon flowers? They're a gorgeous plant who's blooms only open up once the moon rises, and then they wilt when then sun rises to be replaces by new blooms the next night. They're fascinating to watch, my Grandma has some in her front yard. Anyways, I've lost track of the days again, but I know it supposed to be half moons, or as The Daily Nail calls them, moonicures.

Moonicures themselves are pretty cool, but I prefer when they are fancied up. I thought semi-stamping one part would be neat, and I was right. Definitely a technique I'll be using again.

Throw Some Glitter make it Rain

Ok! LAST post for today! (maybe)

Whenever I think 'glitter' I think 'Ke$ha'. Or as my mom refers to her, Hehaw. Long story. Anyways, you should know by now how much I love accent nails, or, nail, and instead of doing glitter as an accent like I usually would I switched it up a bit, and I rather like the turnout. And the pink makes me happy ^-^.

I used:
Sally Hansen Rockstar Pink

Neon Tribal Print

Nail art pens, all the way! Woot! They come in so handy, I love them so so much. My Aunt and Uncle are the bestest ever for getting me some. Anywhoozle, heeeeres day 16! (you like how I'm aware of the days now?)

This was so much fun to do, I seriously just have way to much fun with pens.

I used:

Flutterby Butterfly

So I"m actually going to check the day numbers for this one and it turns out we're on day... *runs to room*... 15! Delicate print day. I went through loads of my plates trying to find the perfect "delicate" print and I finally settled on this one because what could be more delicate than butterfly wings?

I loooove this! I was hoping that the purple would be more opaque but I like it more this way, kinda gives it the translucence of actual butterfly wings! Sure I had to mega adjust whatever in the photos so it could actually be SEEN and look like what they actually look like on my hand. My camera does not like to pick up on light things. Totally worth it though so I could share these with you ^-^

I used:
Essie We're In It Together
Midgi Silvery Purple Pen

Notice how I knock these posts out of the park so quickly? I don't paint my nails in like five seconds, throughout the day I get bored and paint them, them edit and bomb you with the posts all in one sitting. Just in case you were wondering ^-^.

What Nail Art Looks Like at Three AM

Yeah. Thats pretty much all I have to say about this post. I was up really late last night/this morning listening to Harry Potter and decided nail art at the same time would be a good idea. It's not THAT bad but I could have done better. While stamping the bottom half smeared so I decided a really thick french tip would make up for it >.<. Yay sleepy Haleigh brain.

I used:
Essie Leading Lady

Oh yeah this is for day something or another for the 31 Day Challenge. I really have lost count of the numbers, but at least I know the required designs :)

Roomies

I finished cleaning my room earlier than expected, so I figured I would do another challenged day just cause :P Whatever number this one is, its animal print. So I used my five roomies as a reference.

So I'll start off with the nail art, then explain each nail in order.

My thumbnail is inspired by my five-year-old German Shepard Max. Very creative name. At around age two his nose started turning pink, and progressed more and more as he ages, I think he licks his nose so much he rubs off the black.

Max is unimpressed with my attempts to photograph him.

Next is my fish Barbie who hid at the back of the tank the entire time. You'll just have to take my word that she's pink with gold stripes

This is Zack, he's about a year old I believe. I found him as a baby in my garage curled up under the recycling bins. He used to scare the crap out of mom, but now she's gotten used to him. He spends his days sleeping, digging, and eating crickets. Which is really fun to watch because he does little pushups and wriggles his tail before striking.

This is Oedipus Rex and he is a camera hog, I think he was fascinated by the camera's flash. Whenever I would try and get a picture of the other fish he would swim in front and block them out. I won him at a carnival, and I learned later that all of the other fish they had there died because they had used the school's water, whereas when I got him I switched out the water he was in for bottled water cause I thought it would be better. Apparently it was cause here he is three months later.

Showing off.
Lastly was Elvis, my blue fish with gold stripes. He was camera shy too, and you can see Barbie to the side a bit too. And Oedipus camera hogging again.

(EDIT: I forgot to mention I have a cat named Angel, but she lives with my Uncle since we found out my younger brother is allergic :'(. I get to see her often though and she always come running up to me mewing ^-^. Hopefully when I'm older I can have her live with me.)

Earn Your Stripes

Hey again! Here is day something or another of the 31 Day Challenge, I can't remember. But I do know its stripes for today! I already had Tart Deco on, and since its such I nice color I decided to put it with today's challenge.

I kept it really simple today, just a chevron accent nail. I haven't played with my stripers much so this was fun.
I used:
Essie Tart Deco

Well thats all I have for today, I REALLY gotta finish cleaning my room now xP. At least I have Harry Potter to listen to ^-^.
