Cherry Blossoms

"See the cherry blossoms in China" is waaay up on my bucket list. They're absolutly gorgeous and I wish I could have them here in America. Well, my plum tree out front has little blossoms, but it's still shorter than me after about seven years of being there. It doesn't really count.

Swords and Shields

Anybody here watch Merlin? I just finished the series, and I'm missing it sooo much already. So it was easy to come up with a medieval look, based on all the shields that the knights use.

K'in Sotz' Bak Tz'am

Yay for Sharpies! They make detailed manicures waaay easier. I used one to draw Mayan hieroglyphics on my nails today. From index to pinky it reads, "Sun, bat, heron, throne." I wasn't really going for a coherent sentence xD.

Think Greek

Today I was inspired by the patterns on greek vases, like the one here. I started to wonder why it is that all Grecian vases are variations of orange, black, and white. I really couldn't find a good a simple explanation, everything was in over explanitory terms. Basically the vase was a different clay than the slip (watery clay) used to paint on the figures, and when fired in the kiln they turned different colors.

I think this turned out quite nicely, I kinda like the unevenness of the pattern. Plus twists on french tips are always fun :)

Roman Royalty

Maybe one day I'll catch up to all of my challenges... Well, here's a start.

The colors gold and purple distinctly stand out to me when I think of Romans, I believe a lot of their statesmen wore the colors. I decided to go with a simple ruffian instead of any fancy nail art today.

Hope you guys like it! I have a lot of polishing to do now!

Coprolite Happens

Hey guys! So I ended up going almost another week without posting... Things have just gotten really hectic and the light change has thrown me off. It doesn't get dark till a little after seven now, whereas it used to get dark around five. Useually when the sun goes down I know it's time to get busy with stuff, but if the sun is still up it could be four for all I know. My inner clock is off, so maybe it's a good time to strart this Time Periods Challenge. (I just came up with that pun, don't roll your eyes I'm proud of that one.)

The first prompt is the Jurassic Era, so I decided to paint ammonite fossils on my nails. I know this fish isn't Jurassic (he's actually from the Eocene Age), but he's the coolest fossil in my collection.

   I used:
Sally Hansen Stone Creme
Clair's White Nail Art Pen

Here's the list of prompts for this challenge if anybody is curious. Don't get to used to these pretty, long nails. The two weeks of neglect has my nails in pretty bad, stubby shape. I figured I would post the pictures I had already taken (but didn't edit or upload) before getting to them. I should be back tomorrow, things are starting to stop being a jigsaw puzzle thankfully.
